Relocating to the Bay Area
Moving into the Bay Area from somewhere else, without having to learn the whole map yourself.
The hard part is not the house. It is the map.
When you already live somewhere, you know things you never had to be told. Which side of town gets loud. Which commute is fine at seven and miserable at eight. Which neighborhood people mean when they say the name.
Moving in from outside, you have none of that, and every listing looks roughly the same on a screen. That is the actual problem with relocating, and touring houses does not solve it.
So we do that part first.

What the towns are actually like
Brentwood is the one most people land on. It kept a real downtown, it has the farmers market and The Streets of Brentwood, and a lot of the housing is newer. It is also the most competitive market out here.
Antioch is the oldest and largest, sitting on the San Joaquin River. It covers a huge range, from the historic streets near the water to newer subdivisions on the south side. Your experience of Antioch depends enormously on which part.
Oakley is mostly recent construction and sits between Brentwood and Antioch, with easy Delta access without Discovery Bay pricing.
Discovery Bay is a boating community. People move there for the water, and if you do not care about the water, it is probably not your town.
Pittsburg and Bay Point are furthest west, which means the shortest drive toward the rest of the Bay Area and access to the train.
Bethel Island, Byron and Knightsen are rural and quiet, and the people who want them really want them.
The commute question, answered honestly
Most people relocating here are trading distance for house. That trade is real and it is worth being clear eyed about it. From Pittsburg you are meaningfully closer to the rest of the Bay Area than from Discovery Bay, and that gap is not small on a weekday morning.
If your commute is the deciding factor, tell us early. It narrows the map faster than anything else and it saves you from falling for a house in the wrong town.

Buying from a distance
Plenty of our relocation clients buy before they ever live here. We do video walkthroughs that are honest rather than flattering, including the parts a listing photo would crop out. We will show you the street, the neighbors, and what is behind the fence.
We also help with the timing problem, because relocating usually means a job start date, a lease ending, or a house selling somewhere else, and those rarely line up on their own.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which town has the best commute into San Francisco?
Pittsburg and Bay Point are furthest west and have train access, which makes them the shortest commute of the options out this way. Brentwood and Discovery Bay add real time on a weekday morning. The right answer depends on where exactly you are heading and how often.
Can you help me buy before I move here?
Yes, and we do it often. We run honest video walkthroughs, including the things a listing photo leaves out, and we will tell you when a house is not worth a plane ticket.
How is Brentwood different from Antioch?
Brentwood is generally newer, more competitive and has a stronger town center. Antioch is larger, older and far more varied, so two Antioch neighborhoods can feel like different cities. Neither is simply better. They suit different people.
