Inventory is Up, What Does that Mean for The Housing Market

What does more listings on the market mean when you are trying to sell your house? Hi, I am Krista Mashore with eXp Realty and The Mashore Group. Last year we saw a huge decline in inventory with most homeowners sitting on the fence and not selling largely due to the high mortgage rates. However, now that there has been an influx of inventory in the marketplace, as a seller are you still at an advantage? The answer is primarily Yes. According to the latest data from Realtor.com new listings are trending up. More homeowners are putting a forsale sign in their yard compared to the same time last year. Newly listed homes are up 15.5% above last year levels. And, although this is good news for buyers to have more options to choose from, sellers are still in a good place as home prices continue to rise too. We are not seeing many price reductions in certain areas which means there is enough supply and demand to keep home prices up and buyers happy with choices. So if you are considering selling even though there are more listings on the market now is still a good time to sell as we are seeing a nice balance with supply and demand.
